The Creative moods stained glass studio Artist - Alison Mortiss

Welcome 2018!

Already you are beginning to fly away with all those precious hours.

Alison was kept busy right up to a couple of days before Christmas with a pair of fabulous sidelights for a great couple out at Yarramalong..

A couple of weeks off and then right back into it for a pair of leadlights for internal doors for a family at Cooranbong, not to mention repairs on a lampshade, a display cabinet and a leadlight.

There is some reprieve though with Alison scoring another artist redidency at Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery late January/early February. Certainly looking forward to some respite from the heat and humidity we've been experiencing here.

this is a picture of me beside  "Half Moon Island" which won 3rd prize at the Willowtree Garden Sculpture exhibition. It was great to be able to attend the presentation on saturday 11th November. The show is on till 19th November 2017 at Laggan, NSW. 130 sculptures in a gorgeous garden that is the result of Anna Pye's passion and dedication. If you are planning a trip that way, I can highly recommend Lilac Cottage in Taralga run by the delightful Laurel ph 0248402268.

This is a picture of Portal which was installed at Undercliff Winery, Wollombi today for Sculptures in the Vineyards, Wollombi. 28th October until 3rd December 2017.

Busy times ahead as there are 5 sculpture exhbitions that will feature Alison's works between now and the end of the year.

1st September 2017 - 28th February 2018. Eden Unearthed, 307 Lane Cove Rd, Macquarie Park. NSW.

11th - 19th November 2017. Willow Tree Sculpture Park. Laggan, NSW.

28th October- 3rd December 2017. Sculpture in the Vineyards. Wollombi, NSW.

Fabulous time of year to take the opportunity to enjoy the countryside of this wonderful state. Hope you can make it to at least one of these shows.

Alison has been accepted into Eden Unearthed a sculpture exhibition that will run for 6months at Eden Gardens 307 lane Cove Road, Macquarie Park. Sydney.

Her work will be found in the Cancer Council Daffodil garden from 31st August 2017.

Picture below shows how she has started work on producing some exciting new work for the project.

Wonder what it will be?

Alison is currently reaping the benefits of an Artist Residency at Cradle Mountain Hotel Wilderness Gallery. This area is an endless resource of inspiration, every turn on every path reveals another amazing view/scene/landscape. The rain and mist only add to the experience. The possibilities of the work that is going to result from the inspiration gained during this time is incredible. Guess the studio is up for another hard drive to hold the many photos that are being taken.

Alison has won 1st Prize at the 2017 Royal Easter Show Art Show in Kilnformed Glass with Portal.

Then if that wasn't enough she also received a Highly Commended for Knit Picking.

Sunday 23rd April you will find Alison  with some works at Yarramalong Old School for their annual Artists at Work display. 10am until 4pm.

"People are like Stained Glass Windows" it is inspired by a quote by Elisabeth Kubler Ross.

Alison is currently undertaking many varied commisions, but will be happy to speak to you regarding your  projects,

Repairs to broken leadlights, stained glass and lampshades are possible and a simple phone call could well put your mind at ease after that unfortunate accident. They happen to everyone. So many of these pieces have a lot of sentimental value as well as dollar value, so they are worth preserving.
